Atkins was appointed to provide client-side advice and quality assurance on the design and implementation of a shared service proposition for the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The FCO Shared Services Programme included finance, procurement, HR, banking and outsourcing facilities management across the entire FCO network, at home and abroad.

Atkins’ services on the project included experienced consultancy support, change readiness assessment, the provision of quality assurance during the development of the business case and design stages of the programme, stakeholder mapping and engagement, communications strategy and delivery, transition strategies and planning, and training needs analysis, design and delivery. The business case was independently reviewed to ensure successful approval by the FCO Board.
