London City Airport

UK | SECTOR: Aviation

Since 2002 Atkins has provided long term support at London City Airport. Following a series of successful projects, including runway reconfiguration and operational improvements, in 2006 Atkins was awarded the design and construction supervision role for the East Apron and runway link, and subsequent addition of a new passenger pier and gate building.

The £30m marine and airport engineering project was entirely built over the King George V Dock adjacent to the existing apron and terminal allowing larger aircraft types to operate and providing passengers with comfortable facilities.

Atkins designed, supervised, controlled and delivered the complex project successfully; under budget and without disruption to airport operations.
