Atkins designed and delivered the Chepstow High Street regeneration scheme in Monmouthshire in Wales. The project has won a series of prestigious awards including being highly commended in the ICE Welsh Regional Roy Edwards Awards.

A pedestrian-friendly environment was created by reducing the width of the high street carriageway, widening the adjacent footpaths and refurbishing the three adjoining squares. Atkins’ landscape team worked closely with artists to create a scheme in which artwork was interwoven within the fabric of the design.

The visual and environmental improvements have helped change the perception of the town and serve as a model for other local authority regeneration schemes.
