Water efficiency

We understand that water is a limited resource around the world and we work with clients to develop water efficient solutions.

Our water performance

We lease the majority of our properties and therefore it is difficult to obtain relevant water consumption data for the majority of our locations. We are able to monitor consumption at locations in the Middle East, India, Ireland, Poland, Portugal and in the UK, covering approximately 30% of our employees.

We have introduced rainwater harvesting during an office refurbishment project in the UK. Our office refurbishment in Shanghai also incorporated grey water recycling, solar water heating and waterless urinals.

Atkins in China actively reduces water waste by using sustainable drainage systems for client projects. The tourism consultancy and conceptual plan developed by our Shanghai office for Swan Lake in Dongying, China is an example of eco-friendly water reduction design.
